・　Vaccination

Vaccination for yellow fever, tetanus, Hepatitis A is recommended, though not "must". Pills for the prevention of Malaria is obtainable in some medical institutions in Tokyo and Osaka. If you are worried about getting Malaria, mosquito net and insecticide sheet/spray are helpful.

・　Currency

Mozambican currency is "Metical"(plural form is "Meticais"). It ranges between 24500-23500 Meticais/USD these years. You can check the latest rate in the web page of Imensis (Portuguese only). I recommend that you take USD cash with you for exchange. You can withdraw cash with your credit cards from ATM in the Maputo International Airport or large supermarkets. However, it is always safer to prepare appropriate amount of USD cash for any unforeseen circumstances.

・　Urban Transportation

From the airport to the city center, you can take taxi, which may cost about 75,000 Meticais. Inside Mapuo City, you can take mini-ban called "Chapa", the most convenient  economic means of transportation for individual travelers (one ride is 5,000 Meticais). However, it is better to take taxi when you are carrying large baggage or a lot of money, as it is said that you get easily targeted by pickpockets in "Chapa".

   Bus to other regions

・　Condition of Roads

Roads to South Africa are neatly paved. It takes about 2 hours from Maputo to Kruger National Park. Outside Maputo, many roads are not paved, and even if paved, their conditions are often terrible. You may need to rent 4WD and have a good driving skill.
