The late Yasaburo Shimonaka

Founder of the Heibonsha Limited, Publishers. He published Japan's first World Encyclopedia. Pushed forward with the World Federation Movement (A Director of the World Federation). Organized the World Peace Appeal 7 Persons Committee. Organized the Religion World Conference. The Honorary President of the International New Education Association. He died at the age of 83 in February 1961. |

The late Mineko Furutsuki

She, a modern dancer and a Hiroshima atomic bomb victim, performed
"No More Hiroshimas" with her sister, Sumiko Furutsuki. Participated
in the world peace activity through dancing. Established the International
Artists Center with the support of Yasaburo Shimonaka. Organized the
Japan Folkloric Art Dance Troupe. Leukemia relapsed while field researching
a folkloric dance. She died in December 1970. |

He was born in Hiroshima in 1916. He was A-bombed about 1 km away from the center of the
explosion on August 6, 1945, and struggled with illness for 13 years. In 1952 and 1953, while
struggling with illness, he produced a ballet "No More Hiroshimas." In 1956, he produced a
ballet "No More Hiroshimas ~ A Lone Star Twinkling." In 1960, he established the
International Dance Institute and became a head official. He was the substantial leader of the
organization. In 1971, after the second Director-General, Mineko Furutsuki's death, he became
the Director-General both in name and reality. Pushes forward with the world peace movement
through exchanging with artists of the world. He died in March 2000. |
